GKT becomes Strategic Partner of Carbeau
Partnership Strengthens the Industrialization of Innovative CO₂ Valorization Technologies

GKT has become a strategic partner and investor in Carbeau B.V., a Dutch technology company and spin-off of Avantium. Through this investment, GKT is strengthening its activities in the field of CO₂ valorization and further expanding its expertise in the industrialization of innovative environmental technologies.
Carbeau has developed an electrochemical technology that uses captured CO₂ as a feedstock for the production of high-value chemicals and sustainable materials. Applications include glycolic acid for premium personal care products and PLGA, a fully compostable polymer.
As a strategic industrial partner, GKT contributes its extensive expertise in process engineering, plant engineering, and the execution of complex industrial projects. Together with Carbeau, the technology will be advanced toward industrial-scale implementation. A key milestone of the collaboration is the planned construction of a pilot plant in Delfzijl, the Netherlands, with GKT supporting the engineering and implementation of the facility.
The investment complements GKT’s activities within its Environmental Technologies business unit and further strengthens the company’s commitment to CO₂ valorization. Through the development of its own ECO2CELL technology and collaborations with innovative partners, GKT is advancing sustainable CO₂ utilization technologies and supporting their industrial implementation.
With this partnership, GKT and Carbeau are taking another step toward advancing innovative CO₂ valorization technologies and contributing to a more resource-efficient and climate-friendly process industry.
