Our Approach
Distillation and rectification systems are core process units wherever thermal separation is required. Key facts
Distillation
In distillation, liquid mixtures are separated by vaporization followed by condensation. The separation is based on differences in volatility between the components, enabling the generation of defined product fractions.
Rectification
When components exhibit similar volatilities, rectification is applied – a multistage distillation process with reflux. It is carried out in a column consisting of a stripping section and a rectifying section, allowing for high separation efficiency through repeated mass and heat transfer.
Applications
Distillation and rectification systems are applied across industries to purify, recover, and separate complex mixtures.
Typical applications include:
- Alcohol purification: recovery of methanol, ethanol, isopropanol and glycerin from aqueous mixtures
- Organic substances: separation of lactic acid, acetone and butyl acetate
- Condensates: treatment of pulp industry condensates via stripping
- Solvent recovery: separation from solvent–water and solvent–fatty acid systems
- Special applications: separation of trichloroethylene and oil, as well as treatment of alternative fuels and biogenic systems
