Our Approach

At GKT, you don’t just learn. You build real machines for industry. From your first day, you are part of the team. You work on components and systems used in industrial plants around the world.

Step by step, you learn how parts are manufactured and assembled. You see what you have worked on and how it is used later on. At the same time, you gain an understanding of how industry works and how technology improves the use of energy and resources.

  • Structural Steel Technician
    3,5 years
    As a structural steel technician, you work with metal and build components and steel structures for industrial plants. You use machines and tools, assemble parts, and see how complete systems are created step by step.

Who we are looking for

You are curious about technical topics and want to understand how things work behind the scenes. You enjoy hands-on tasks, like building, fixing, or trying things out yourself. At the same time, you are reliable, take responsibility for your work, and like being part of a team where everyone supports each other.

What you get on top

An apprenticeship at GKT is more than just learning a job. You gain new experiences, meet other apprentices, and grow step by step - both in your skills and as a person.
You meet other apprentices across the Dr. Aichhorn Group, for example at the annual Apprentice Day.
You visit our sister companies during trial weeks and exchanges, get to know different locations, and see how things work. On top, you build your skills through extra training like forklift or crane licenses and English lessons.
Your effort is recognized through bonuses, extra days off, and rewards for strong performance and good ideas.
You can also continue your education, for example by completing your “Matura”, or gain international experience. We also support you in everyday topics such as public transport, your driver’s license, or tutoring if needed.

Frequently asked questions

GKT is an Austrian industrial company and part of the Dr. Aichhorn Group. We design and build equipment and systems used in industrial plants worldwide.
At our production sites in Gloggnitz or Attnang-Puchheim - depending on where you live.
Your apprenticeship lasts 3.5 years. Each year, you attend vocational school for 10 weeks in Neunkirchen or Wels. This time counts as working hours.
You become a specialist in metalworking, manufacturing components and metal products and operating machines and entire production systems.
You must have completed compulsory schooling. We value interest in practical work, motivation, and reliability.
Your salary follows the collective agreement and increases each year. At GKT, you earn above the standard level.
Apprenticeships usually start in September. We are flexible and can align the start with your situation.
